Thai Bangkaew Dog Breed Info [2023 Guide]

 An Obstinate but smart dog, the Thai Bangkaew is not a dog for novice owners because handling this dog requires a handful of experience with dogs. The heritage of this breed can be seen back 100 years ago when Domestic Thai dogs and the Asiatic wild jackals were crossed, which are no longer in existence. It is one of the two dog breeds that originated in Thailand, the other one is the Thai Ridgeback.

Although there are not enough records for this breed, it is widely accepted that it originated in Bangkaew, a small village in central Thailand, close to the district of Bang Rakam.

The Thai Bangkaew Dog has a close resemblance with the Spitz-type dogs. It has a medium-length double coat- harsh from the outside, while the undercoat is soft and thick. The coat is pretty easy to maintain and is considered to be water-resistant.

The Thai Bangkaew is a protective dog and a loyal companion but it may not tolerate strangers. It’s always ready to protect its family. Moreover, this intelligent dog has a tremendous hunting capability.

It is quite an active dog that requires vigorous exercise to stay healthy physically and mentally. It will need a home with a large yard where it can easily run, play, and explore. High maintenance

This dog has a medium-sized double coat that needed to be maintained regularly. To avoid tangles and knots, its coat should be brushed regularly. However, bathing is not necessary for this breed unless it gets into the mud; otherwise, it is best to bathe it every 6 to 8 weeks.
