Quick Facts about Havachon:

The Havachon dogs are frisky and cheerful dogs and are a great choice for all ages. They are devoted to their family and love to be around them and acquire as much attention as they can. Their small size makes them an ideal dog for apartment or condo residents.

Havachon has a pretty friendly nature, it will give love to anybody including other pets. Usually, it will get along well with other dogs, cats, birds, and other animals if socialized properly and early.

It is a hypoallergenic dog that is ideal for families suffering from allergies. It will not shed much however, due to its curly and dense coat it will need to be brushed a couple of times a week to avoid any tangles.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Low Shedding coat
  • Social, Intelligent, and Playful
  • Easy to train
  • Various coat colors
  • Longer life span
  • Ideal for apartment life
  • Medium Activity level

Cons:

Ideal for the first-time owner

If you are looking for a dog that is easy to adopt, Havachon should be your first-class choice. It is quite easy to handle and doesn’t give you a tough time during training or socializing. Its easy-going temperament and straightforward workout make it an ideal dog for inexperienced or first-time owners.

Variation in the coat color

Surprisingly, this hybrid dog will not have the same coat color throughout its life. Like its Havanese parents, its coat color will fade as it grows older. This blend, on the other hand, does not have to have this heredity every time. Because it is a designer dog, the coat will be determined by which parent it inherited the most from.

Eager and Curious

Havachons are always curious and eager to learn new tricks. They are very smart therefore mental enrichment is mandatory for them. These dogs enjoy performing in dog competitions such as agility, flyball, and obedience training.

Special Diet

Since both parent dogs are prone to obesity, you have to be sure not to overfeed your Havachon dog. Prepare a healthy and balanced diet and do not offer too many treats. The best solution is to get help from your veterinarian or the breeder regarding the Havachon diet plan. You may also feed them with high-nutrient fruits and vegetables such as apples, watermelons, and carrots.

They might need a special diet because Bichon Frise is prone to food allergies so there is a risk that Havachon could also suffer from this condition. Therefore it is recommended to ask your vet before taking any decision on your own.

Bottom Line

Havachon is a great family pet, it is an ideal dog for families suffering from allergies. It can adapt to any family even if they already have other pets.

They are affectionate and will keep you entertained. However, try not to leave them alone for a very long time, since they hate being alone.
